You can find top publications in research areas of your interest as follows:
1. On homepage of Google Scholar, click at the top left corner
2. Click Metrics
3. Click VIEW ALL under Top publications
4. Click Categories, and then choose a category, e.g. Business, Economics & Management
5. Click Subcategories, and choose a subcategory, e.g. Marketing
6. The top 20 journals (ordered by h5-index & h5-median) of the field will be shown. If needed, click individual h5-index to find citations details of the related articles
7. Related articles and citation data will be shown
Remark: You can check availability of resources via Library website, you are welcome to recommend purchase if the resources are not available.
Metrics summarize recent citations to the publications, it is an easy way for authors to quickly gauge the visibility and impact of recent articles in the publications. Authors can consider where to publish their new research.
Metric | Definition | Example |
h-index | The largest number h such that at least h articles in that publication were cited at least h times each. | A publication with five articles cited by 8, 7, 5, 3, and 2 respectively, has the h-index of 3. |
h-core | A set of top cited h articles from the publication. These are the articles that the h-index is based on. | The publication above has the h-core with three articles, those cited by 8, 7, and 5. |
h-median | The median of the citation counts in its h-core, it is a measure of the distribution of citations to the articles in the h-core. | The h-median of the publication above is 7. |
h5-index, h5-core, & h5-median | The h-index, h-core, and h-median of only those of its articles that were published in the last five complete calendar years. |
