Asian Studies: Databases

The database provide primary source materials on specific historical subjects. The Library has subscribed to one of the archives, "Hong Kong, Britain and China, Part I: 1841–1951" and "Hong Kong, Britain and China, Part II, 1965-1993" from China and the Modern World. The digitized materials provide detailed information on the political, military, social, economic, and external development of Hong Kong during the periods.

JSTOR provides full-text online access to back file of scholarly journals in the collection of Arts & Sciences, Asia Collection, Business & Economics, Language & Literature, Mathematics & Statistics as well as Lives of Literature. Ebooks with multidisciplinary academic titles from university presses and scholarly publishers are also available in this platform.

This streaming video platform provides access to over 20,000 videos of classic films, popular movies, independent films, documentaries and education videos from around the world. Subject coverage includes Art & Architecture, Business, Global Studies, Media & Communication, Performing Arts, Psychology, Sciences, Sociology, etc.

This database is a major collection from the Brill East Asia Archive. It includes essential English-language publications from the first half of the 20th Century, reporting at first hand from the Russo-Japanese War to the Manchurian Crisis, the Fifteen-Year War and the Chinese Post-War, systemic change in mainland China and the prelude to the Cold War in East Asia. It offers a tightly organised series of pivotal English-language newspapers, books and magazines reporting and commenting on developments in East and South-East Asia from the turn of the century to the early 1950s.

Library has subscribed one of the archives "Asia and the West: Diplomacy and Cultural Exchange" from Nineteenth Century Collections Online (NCCO). This archive features a range of primary sources related to international relations between Asian countries and the West during the 19th century and provides access to invaluable documents including government reports, diplomatic correspondence, periodicals, newspapers, treaties, trade agreements, NGO papers and more.

The database provides full-text electronic newspaper clippings of Chinese and English newspapers Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Macau and other countries.

World Scientific eBooks are electronic versions of World Scientific print titles. Currently, the Library has access to three collections, namely Asian Studies and Social Sciences, Business and Economics Collection 2013 to 2017.
